It is only recently that I have become aware of the utter beauty and functionality of Peace Hands. The first observation is that they form the letter ‘V’ for Victory. Victory over all of the many feelings and forces that are not Peace. The second observation is that the Peace Hands make it impossible to approach a situation with closed fists. The word ‘closed’ as in closed-minded, closed hearted, closed spirit, or closed fist always symbolize nonpeace. Even a tense body is closed to the gentle Peace that resides within.

Try this at home. Make the Peace symbol with your right hand and notice how easily it becomes a friendly wave or an open palm for a hand shake. Even in cultures where hand shakes are not common, the Peace hand easily slips into a prayerful form before bowing as a sign of respect.

A Peaceful weekend to you all. Remember, at noon wherever you are, Stop and say these words. “Peace be with you and Peace be with the world.” Collective love in action.
